Tip Tuesday - How to schedule Windows Updates

Tip Tuesday this week we are looking at how to delay Windows updates, and even schedule them for when we aren’t working. We have all had that moment when an update pops up and you think “I’ll do it won’t take long…” half an hour later you are still waiting and staring at the “this make take a few minutes” message!

To delay updates, go down to your Task Bar - The white bar on your toolbar that says “type here to search”. In that box type Windows Update Settings.

Select the best match at the top of the results

In this window you can:

  • Pause updates for 7 days

  • Change active hours

I highly recommend that you change your active hours. Select the hours that you are usually working to make sure that the updates are set to be outside of when you usually use your machine.

Once you have set your active hours your updates will occur when you are not working.

Always keep your machine updated as this helps to protect you.

Happy updating your machine!
