Tip Tuesday - LinkedIn, filter people search

It's Tip Tuesday this weeks edition is a tip for LinkedIn the professional networking platform.

Did you know that you can apply filters when you are searching for people to help narrow down the thousands of results searches you get?

Why is this useful, lets say you know that you met someone from a firm, you know their first name but you cannot for the life of you remember their surname.

Lets say that persons name is John… John on a LinkedIn search at the time of writing this post produces 6,756,199 results!

Simply go to the search bar at the top enter the first name and hit search. In this example its John

The top of the results window you have a bar that looks like this

Those three drop downs are all you need to start really pin pointing your search. Location and current companies at the best ways to narrow this to who you really want to see.

Simply select the filter that you want to apply like so:

Stick people included to protect the John’s that I know!

Stick people included to protect the John’s that I know!

And hey presto you have narrowed your search right down and stand a much better chance of finding who you really need!

Happy accurate searching!
